Ignacio Cembrero

 

Ignacio Cembrero (Madrid, 1954) is a Spanish journalist and writer. He studied in Paris at the Institute of Political Studies, the National Foundation for Political Science and the Journalists' Training Centre. During the first half of the eighties, he worked as correspondent for the newspaper El País in the Middle East, later moving to Brussels. In 2014, after the pro-Moroccan betrayal of Juan Luis Cebrián (president of the Prisa group), he left El País for El Mundo, which he left in August 2015. He currently (2019) writes in El Confidencial and Middle East Eye. Author of Vecinos alejados / Los secretos de la crisis entre España y Marruecos [Remote neighbours / The secrets of the crisis between Spain and Morocco] (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2006). His latest book is La España De Alá [Allah's Spain] (Esfera Libros, 2016): "Five centuries after the Reconquest the Muslims have returned. There are two million of them and they are still growing".
