Morocco chose this date to avoid the presence of international observers because it coincides with the Christmas holidays.
On 18 October, the Gdeim Izik group, currently detained at El Arjat Prison in Salé, received individual responses to each of the 21 political prisoners, from the Civilian Civilian Court of Appeal in Rabat that their appeal from 2013 had been accepted.
The decision of the civil court was dated 27 July this year and the prisoners were informed only on 18 October. The Moroccan judicial system retained this information for 82 days.
Following the Court's decision, the group was transferred from prison and subjected to abuses and repeated beatings.
A call has being launched for international observers and journalists to attend the trial.
